Kulttuuriyhdistys Paskakaupunni ry (“Shit City Culture Society”) presents the fifth annual Hässäkkä-päivät DIY punk and hardcore festival in Oulu, Finland on 30.6.-3.7. 2011. The festival is held at Ykän pub’s with one outdoor stage and one inside the pub. Counting the opening and closing clubs on Thursday and Sunday, there’s going to be over 40 punk and hardcore bands playing. Most of the line-up is now complete, there are still a couple of additions coming up and hopefully not too many cancellations. (We still reserve the right for all kinds of changes, though.)
The Friday will be headlined by the crazy US grind / power violence trio Magrudergrind, who had to cancel last year. Other foreign treats will be the also-cancelled-Finnish-shows-last-year danish Love Potion with it’s insanely erotic “Freddie Mercury of punk”-hardcore burlesque performance and the dark, fast and intense Umeå crust band Misantropic. During the weekend there will be many classic finnish punk and hardcore bands playing including Terveet Kädet, Rytmihäiriö and Wasted, and a mix of new finnish bands ranging from crust, sludge, power violence and hardcore to melodic punk rock, new wave and power pop. The opening club will feature this year more roots oriented bands including The Sultans minimalist blues, Räjäyttäjät‘s avant-boogie, Siistit Jätkät‘s last show ever and D-beatles’s Mersey D-Beat Sound. The closing club will be held in the Observatorium’s Cafe with semi-acoustic performances by Radiopuhelimet, Noituus and more.

Due to finnish alcohol laws the festival is only for those over 18. The tickets will be available at Tiketti.fi on Monday 18.4. with the following prices: Friday 14 €, Saturday 16 € and 2 days 28 € (+ Tiketti charges 1 € / ticket and possible mailing 6,5 € / package in Finland and 15 € overseas.)
